I listened to the Viall Files interview with Kendall Washington from Love Island so you don't have to. If you do, scroll ahead about 1 hour - eeesh to get to the BEGINNING of the interview. It's good, but it was a very long episode. Are they always that long?
Here's the breakdown:
Casting
Kaylor was the only one who applied to be on, everyone else was recruited
Kendall's coworkers applied for him for multiple reality shows
He was going to be on last season but chose to focus on his work
He also was almost on Charity’s season of The Bachelorette
Felt like The Bachelorette was too scripted so went with Love Island
Nick actually talked about his Bachelor Nation experience earlier in the episode. It is a good listen just lonngggggg.
Could have gone on The Circle too
Didn't want to regret not doing reality at 45 ****that's not that #*@* old Kendall I'm 40!!! 😂😂😂😭👵
My 2 cents: This man was going to be on your screens in some way, some how. Casting dngaf what you think, he makes good tv. And I mean, here we are talking about him so haters this isn't the place for you. We are the LOVEPod for a reason.
The TikTok by his ex
The ex who he allegedly left to go on the show
Both from San Diego met in Dallas
They went on a couple of dates but it was a situationship
He didn't see her as a future wife
He talked to her about Love Island the first time he thought he was going on
My 2 cents: It does genuinely sound like they were on different pages. Or maybe she just wanted to hop on the fame train.
Nicole
Nick became a Nendall? Kicole??? stan. Work in progress
His feelings were very genuine, but felt so fast
Out of the villa is adjustment
They are still together you nutsos dissecting the position of her fingers to determine their life status.
Thought he fumbled saying I love you
Cried the whole boat home
They still say I love you
Obstacles they're facing- trust, other people's opinions
Not 100% they'll be together at the reunion because anything can happen in life but he very much wants it to work out
Ball is in Nicole's court
She has a very funny, goofy side we didn't get to see
They haven't had time to spend time together alone because of show obligations, media tours
Random fact: Nicole is an amateur dj
Love Island Lingo & Iconic Lines
Didn't realize he was using Love Island lingo, has always talked like that
Life on the Outside
He didn't know about hawk tuah girl until on the pod
They heard about the attempted assassination on Donald Trump after leaving the villa.
They were all caught up on big things they missed, sounded like a group debrief kind of deal.
The Casa Amor behavior
Felt there was no accountability on the guy's end while they were there
Wasn't thinking about how the girls were feeling about what the men were doing
Considered how Nicole would feel if he was inappropriate
But admitted he didn't think about that with the other women and how their guys were acting????
Biggest regret is not having the girl's backs
Felt wrong to encourage Kordell looking back, but he genuinely seemed happy in Casa and miserable in the Villa
The guys had a list of boundaries going in
But then immediately treated it like a hall pass
Once one domino fell, they all started dropping like flies
His relationship with the women
The beef has been squashed
Jana and Leah were his rocks in the villa
Kordell is his BFF rAftermath?
My 2 cents: I have never seen a more insane fan base as I have since finding out about this show. Some of you are doing the MOST. Go outside and get some fresh air. There's no reason to find their houses and share their addresses, find their friends on LinkedIn or DM them bullying and death threats. The. MOST.
At the end of the day, the cast are all tight so everyone else showing hate about his behavior is so weird to me. He messed up. He apologized. He took accountability. None of us are perfect. If the people who he wronged are cool with it, you, internet stranger who he has never met, should maybe try therapy. It's great. Highly recommend.
Final Thoughts/PSA
I love these shows, and for the most part the sense of community I've found being a fan. I've gotten some really cool opportunities since becoming a reality tv fan back in 2020. But I seriously worry about the mental health of the cast. They sign up to be on the show, not to have their lives destroyed by people theyve never met.
Three Love Island cast members including the original host have committed suicide and while I can't speak for why, all of them were bullied and faced cruel backlash after being on the show. Please, please, please think of how you would feel if someone you've never met messaged you hateful things or told you to go die. It's a show!!!
I think I covered all the major bases. Did you listen to the interview? What do you think about the Love Island aftermath?
